About Logging
Pharos Uniprint provides a Logging Service, which can generate logging information for all the Pharos components installed on the machine. This log information can help administrators when troubleshooting problems with Uniprint.
The Logging Service generates separate log files for each of the Pharos components. The log files generated depend on the Pharos components that are installed on the machine(where the Logging Service is installed). For example, if a machine serves as a Principal Server or as a Proxy Server, the Logging Service generates log files for the following Pharos components:
- Database Service
- License Service
- Print Service
- LPD Service
- EDI Service
- SignUp Service
- Popup Service
- Pharos Administrator
Installing Logging Service
The Logging Service is installed automatically along with the Principal Services or the Proxy Server (in cases where you have installed a secondary server).
In Uniprint versions 8.2 and 8.4, the Logging Service could be installed as a standalone version for Pharos components (e.g. Boscop, SignUp client) that do not contain Pharos Services but still require logging. The Logging Service installer was removed from Uniprint 9.0.
By default, logging is turned off. You can activate logging using the Pharos Log Setter tool. For more information on how to activate Logging, please refer to the "Related Topics" below.
