Card Readers
Pharos supports a variety of cash card, smart card and ID card readers and several non-card logon methods. The DLL files needed to operate these card readers and logon methods can be found on the Pharos disk image. These DLLs are the latest versions available at the time this Pharos product was released. If the files for the card reader you require are not there, you will need to obtain them via the Pharos Systems web site: www.pharos.com.
It is critical that the EPROM or firmware in the card reader used is consistent with the version of Pharos. While we do our best to ensure we are up to date with the latest versions, we have no control over the firmware releases made by card reader suppliers. Check the help documentation for the DLL to ensure the reader and its firmware is supported by the current version.

Each of these DLLs is available for selection when creating or editing a Pharos Bank - in most cases, a Bank that uses the required DLL should already exist in the Pharos Database.
Tips for Choosing a DLL
To access internal Pharos accounts, use the ID and Password Dialog Box DLL.
To access an account held in an online billing system that uses a swipe card, use (as appropriate for the card reader):
- ID Card - Keyboard Wedge Logon
- ID Card - Serial Logon
- Monitor System
To access a cash card, use the relevant cash card reader from the list.
