Changing Computer Properties

The following details can be configured for each Computer listed in Pharos Administrator. In addition, two read-only properties display details of the software installed on the actual PC that the Computer entry corresponds to.

General Properties

Property	Description
Network Name	The name that this Computer is known by on the network.
Display Name	The name for this computer that is displayed to users on the SignUp client logon screen.
Description	Free-form text description of this Computer. This description is displayed in the Queue Station screen of the Nerve Center.
Branch	The Branch to which this Computer belongs.
Computer Group	The Computer Group to which this Computer belongs. Which group a computer belongs to determines what sort of reservations it supports, as well as when it can be reserved and by whom; Queued Reservations can only be made from Pharos Stations that are in the same Branch as this computer.
Computer Type	The Computer Type to which this Computer belongs. The Computer Type identifies the function of the computer, and what tasks may be performed on it.
Active	Whether this Computer is active. An Active computer is one that is available for reservation. Active computers are considered a part of the reservation system, and are available to users for reservation; this is the normal state for Computers. Inactive Computers do not consume a license. A Change Control is required after marking a computer as inactive. It is assumed that the inactive PCs will have been removed from the location or physically turned off. An inactive computer that is still running will still allow for Immediate Reservations, as the SignUp Client will go into Standalone mode.
Operating System	The operating system used by this Computer. This information is sent from the SignUp Client, and updates dynamically.
Version Number	The version number of the SignUp Client software installed on this Computer. This information is sent from the SignUp Client, and updates dynamically if the version number changes; it can be used to confirm that an upgrade of the SignUp Client software has taken place. The Computer Version Number report shows a summary of all Computers and their Pharos software version numbers.
